Oahu, Hawaii

We were able to stay at the Hilton resort courtesy of Brandon's travelling for work.
Below is the view from our balcony.
Of course, I couldn't get away without taking some pictures of the gorgeous flowers.

Another view from our hotel.
Our hotel also had several parrot perches, flamingos, and even penguins.
While in Hawaii, I decided to go native...and get a Polynesian tattoo on my wrist.
Okay, so really a Polynesian drew the "tattoo" with a sharpie on my wrist.
Here are some Luau pictures...this was my favorite part of the trip.

We also took a tour of the island that included the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor. Becasue Brandon and I were the first ones off the ship into the memorial, I got some really great pictures that I am sure no one was able to get that day...the memorial empty of living people.

The memorial is built on top of the sunken USS Arizona that entombed 1,177 crew members as the ship sunk in under 9 minutes on December 7, 1941. The bottom picture shows a portion of the ship that is out of water (bottom right corner).
We also went to the Dole Plantation and had pinapple icecream...yummy!
For those of you who didn't know that pineapples do not grow from trees...below is a photo of how they do grow, from a leafy ground plant.
View from the Ohau shoreline.
We stopped on our tour to have lunch at a local shrimp roadside stand, where they had shrimp ponds in back...can't get much fresher than that! I had the best coconut shrimp...mouth watering and Brandon had spicy garlic shrimp, also very good.
Can't remember what part of the tour this picture is from...but they had a cool map embedded in the concrete.
At the end of the week, we went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay. Really breath-taking! These pictures do not do it justice.
While snorkeling we saw this sea turtle, which we heard was "lucky" because most people don't see any turtles. I actually almost swam head-on into a sea turtle in a remote part of the bay where few to no people were swimming and nearly drowned on salt water...hint: snorkeling and screaming do not mix well.
Some other pictures in the Bay

And that is the end of this marathon vacation post.

Awesome! I can't imagine leaving my babies for a week right now... Not that Rob and I couldn't use it!!! It's just that I'm with them all the time, I honestly can't imagine a whole week without them around! And Hawaii! Man... I've hardly been out of Texas! Looks beautiful and like you had a wonderful time!

Glad you and Brandon had a great time and were able to see and experience the island. I am also glad to hear that Lane had a wonderful time with her Gepaw and Memaw while ya'll were away.

Thanks for sharing the beautiful pictures. Hawaii is truly a place that you have to experience to really appreciate it. I would say that no matter how many times I went to a luau with visitors I never got tired to them.
