39 Things Every Parent Should Know
I get Parents magazine and this month there was actually something worth sharing...here are my favs from the list. I highlighted the ones I REALLY liked.
1. You never have to go to obnoxious kid-themed restaurants...EVER
2. Don't make birthday parties a huge deal.
3. Do your chores while kids are awake. Using up naptime to wash dishes is truly soul-crushing.
6. Just throw away the poopy underwear.
7. Don't beat up yourself if you have to use a bribe.
8. Teach your kids not to pee outside unless you're camping.
9. Buy cheap shoes when your kids are little.
10. Don't forget about board games.
12. Know this: That stain won't come out. And it's okay (the sooner you accept this, the better)
15. Answer this question: What is the worst thing that can happen if your kids sleep in their clothes?
16. Never stifle a generous inclination.
22. Buy kids deodorant before they need it.
24. Use a duvet cover with out a top sheet.
26. Don't administer a punishment that hurts you more than it does them.
28. Don't allow the word "wienies" in your home.
31. It's fine to brag about yourself to your kids.
34. Teach them to like cool music.
39. Independence is a wonderful thing. For everyone. So is together time. Make sure you have a healthy balance of both.

#3. Absolutely. But I prefer to just keep putting off my chores until I HAVE to do them:)
I don't think I can ever adhere to #2...unless the kid asks me to STOP:) And I am afraid I'm failing at #34. He listens to Go Fish "Party Like a Preschooler" EVERY day. And he dances just like his dorky parents while listening to it...NOT a good thing...I'll work on that one, though:)
too funny. i read that too. i liked it as well. it may have been the only article that i read in it b/c mother's don't really have the time to read a magazine. :)

#22 - being around some of bray's teenage friends, i totally agree with this one!
#28 too late for our family.
I like the poopy underwear one! Hehe.
my fav's are #3 and #7. though the other day I bribed my little on to let me brush her teeth with candy...which I admit is just wrong. I agree with Cassie about #2, who doesn't love a good party :)
